Honnestly I don't like black and white pictures and have never taken a picture in black and white since the 70th when color pictures were ugly and digital cameras didn't exist. I don't even know if there is a function for black and white in my camera. I love colors as you also can see here in my paintings. My son is a professional photographer and he of course pretends that black and white pictures are far more artistic. That maybe true for statues but certainly not for landscapes. Even a natural black and white scene like snow and tree shadows have colors in the snow. So what I did, I cheated and put my beautiful colored pictures into a sad black and white. Here are different landscapes of different countries where I have been.

The valley of the kings in Egypt

in Turkey

In Petra (Jordan)

at the English south-east coast

The Garda lake in Italy

Around my home town in Waterloo (Belgium)

and the Belgian coast in Ostende

Hi Gattina
I think I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you. I think these photos look magnificent in black and white. I am sure they are quite stunning in color as well, but there is a mood to them in black and white, that personally I find to be calming and reflective, but not depressing, indeed to me... they are uplifting. True art, :)
Always, Carly
These are all lovely...cannot pick a favorite, you did a great job on this challenge. Thank you for the tour of the world...Ü

You may not like black and white (I'm addicted to color myself!), but these look great! That second photo actually made me gasp, and the third, fourth and fifth brought me close to tears. These are outstanding! Losing the color seems to give them more emotional weight and a greater sense of history. Well done!
I also love second picture, peeking out of a cave. In the first pic the shadows are nice. All are wonderful. Thanks for sharing. (Belgium chocolate, yum!)
The ones from Turkey, Petra and England are excellent choices for black and white -- gorgeous!

Very nice!
I love black and white, even more than color shots!
I have enlarged my photo, although I do think it looks better smaller. Just me....
I'm not a big fan of black and white either, but I must say that all these photos are beautiful, even in B&W!! Stunning photos!
Since I've only seen these black and white versions I have nothing to compare to, but I think you got great results! I especially like the ones taken in Turkey and Italy. I'm sure they look spectacular in color, but black and white can be quite stunning too :)
