PHOTO HUNTERS - Veterans/ Military

I was born in Germany in the middle of the war in 1943. When I was a child I played in ruins, while my family were trying to survive hunger and cold. The homecoming soldiers were not considered as heros, because they had fought for a mad man named Hitler. Therefore there is no grave with German soldiers, and no veterans either. The only thing they want is to forget.

This is the old cimetary of Waterloo. There are probably also people who died during the war burried here.

Peace and love, like on this gravestone.

If all men in the whole world would refuse to be soldiers, there would be no war !

I wonder if the world was run by women if there would be any wars.

First, in response to Diane's comments: Two words - Margaret Thatcher. :S

And to yours, Gattina: I wish government leaders would not be so quick to send people into battle. And bet that many of them would be much more hesitant if their children were among the soldiers sent to war.

If only men did refuse to fight. A friend of mine, his father fought in the British Army in WWII, his mother served in the Kriegsmarine on searchlight units around Kiel. If you look atthe faces of his oparents and their comrades ypu could exchange the uniforms and not notice the difference...

I don't even know how I found your blog as I've been bouncing from one that interests me to another, but I'm glad I did. I served with the U.S. Army for over 28 years. I visited Belgium once somewhere around 1990, but never got to Waterloo. I love graveyard photos. Thanks for letting me look at yours.

Beautiful post Gattina, I fully agree with you, its only the Politicians who make the wars.

When I was young in Sarawak, Borneo, my brother read a lot of old war comics. We always wonder what comics German kids read. Now I work with a German woman, we never talked about this topic.

I grew up in Sarawak, and I shall be glad to give you a cyber tour of sarawak. (ref: your comment on Wenn's site on Sarawak.)

Some women can be just as crazy as Hitler! No War! Love and Peace please.

Yes war is much more significant to you than to most of us.
Your idea sounds good but the pressure I am sure would be too great for them. It's our leaders who have to be leaders in this.
