Burnt wood.
Last year was a terribly fire in Greece which destroyed acres and acres of woods. I took this picture out of the bus near Olympia the birth place of the Olympic games.

Lovely, but sad. Nice choice for the theme.
Hi Gattina :)
It so sad when trees are lost to such distruction. Fire... bad!

Sad, but nice choice.
very sad. But The new growth will be even better. Thank you for sharing.
It is very sad but made for a beautiful photo. Almost haunting.
I like what the reflection of the bus window does to that shot. Up above, a wedge of dark, damaged forest. Below, a glimpse of what it might have been before the fire.
Nice thing about forest fires, though: they set off a while new cycle of plant life and young trees.
Fires are so scary!
I played too :)
Good take on the subject. Fire, wood. It's strange to see blackened earth.
How sad. It makes for a good thoughtful subject.

Hi Gattina, I read about those fires in Greece, we have them too almost every year in Australia.
We had a very bad fire out on LI over 10 years, it's now starting to fill in with trees....it's too bad it takes so long to recover.

Great contribution! I live in Southern California where fires are an annual occurrence. It's always sad to see the land right after the devastation, but it's amazing to go back a couple of years later and see all the new growth popping up. I'd love to see a photo of the same area in a year or two -- you up for another trip?
What a site that must have been. The ground will be fertile for the new growth though.
I don't think of Greece as a place for a wildfire. How sad.
